Etiquette & Club Rules

Club Rules

At Eindhovensche Golf, sportsmanship, hospitality and courtesy are held in the highest regard. To ensure that everyone can fully enjoy the course, the game, the clubhouse and each other’s company, we kindly ask you to observe the following:

  • Be courteous and respectful towards fellow players and staff
  • Maintain a good pace of play and allow faster groups to play through
  • Trolleys and buggies must be used on fairways and on paths around the greens only
  • Please do not drive between bunkers and greens or through rough and heather
  • Repair pitch marks, replace divots, rake bunkers carefully and place the rake outside the bunker, parallel to the fairway

Course Staff

Course staff always have priority.
If a blue flashing light is visible on a machine, or if staff are within range, do not play.

Club Manager and Caddiemasters

The Club Manager and Caddiemasters have been appointed by the Board to carry out organisational and supervisory duties.
Members and guests are kindly requested to follow their instructions at all times.

Pace of Play & Ready Golf
  • A good pace of play ensures an enjoyable and relaxed round for everyone. To help maintain flow, please follow these guidelines:

    • Keep up with the group in front
    • Play a provisional ball if in doubt
    • Move briskly between shots
    • Read your putt while others are putting
    • Limit practice swings to a maximum of two
    • Place your golf bag between the green and the next tee
    • Record your score at the next tee
    • Politely address slow play within your group

Ready Golf
  • Ready Golf means playing when you are ready, rather than strictly waiting for the player with the honour. This helps improve pace without compromising safety or etiquette.
  • Play when ready, if safe, even if you do not have the honour
  • Allow shorter hitters to play first, both from the tee and fairway
  • Play your shot before helping others search for their ball
  • Finish short putts where possible, even if near another player’s line
  • Pick up your ball when you can no longer score
  • By applying Pace of Play and Ready Golf, we ensure an enjoyable and efficient round for all. Please respect the following target times for 18 holes:
  • 2-ball: ≤ 3 hours 30 minutes
  • 3-ball: ≤ 4 hours
  • 4-ball: ≤ 4 hours 30 minutes

We wish you a most enjoyable stay at Eindhovensche Golf

Priority, Right of Way & Playing Through

Official Competitions

Priority on the starting tee and on the course (playing through only within the competition)

This applies to:

  • Competitions organised by the Match Committee
  • Competitions during Men’s, Ladies’ and Non-handicap mornings
  • League matches and other NGF competitions
  • Groups (including shotgun starts) approved by the Board

General Play

Starting from the 10th Tee

  • Singles and two-balls may only start from the 10th tee if hole 9 is completely clear and with permission from the Caddiemaster
  • Three- and four-balls are not permitted to start from the 10th tee

Playing Through on the Course

  • Singles, two-, three- and four-balls must allow two-, three- and four-balls to play through when they have lost their position
  • A single player may be allowed to play through in case of loss of position

General Rules

Starting from the 1st Tee

Players are kindly requested to wait with teeing off until the group ahead has reached the green.

Ball Queue System

  • The position of the ball in the ball chute/queue determines the starting order, taking into account priority rules
  • Only one ball per group may be placed by a player present
  • If a group is not complete on time, the ball will be moved one position back

Merging (Joining the 1st Tee)

Groups returning from the back nine (with permission from the Board or Caddiemaster) may merge alternately at the 1st tee.

Loss of Position

A group is considered to have lost its position when, upon teeing off, the group ahead is no longer on the green of that hole.
This does not apply to par 3 holes.

Slow Play

A round of golf should not take longer than:

  • Singles and foursomes: 3 hours
  • Greensomes and three-balls: 3 hours 30 minutes
  • Four-balls: 4 hours

Playing Through

  • On a par 3: after reaching the green
  • On a par 4 or 5: preferably on the tee after your group has played
  • Only one group per hole may be allowed to play through, preferably on a par 3

Four-Balls

  • Play in two- and three-balls is preferred, as this best supports pace of play and course flow.
  • Four-balls are only permitted in consultation with the Caddiemaster, provided that:
  • Course occupancy allows it, and
  • The total playing handicap of the four-ball is less than 80

Caddiemasters

Players must always follow the instructions of the Caddiemasters regarding starting times and priority.
